Twitter in Plain English for Beginners: What is it for?

“I just don’t get it” is still a common reaction to Twitter.

This video from 2008, from Commoncraft, is still a pretty good introduction in two and a half minutes.

Probably the next thing to think about is to move from asking “What are you doing?” to “What has your attention?” (a question I first heard suggested by Pete Cashmore of Mashable.)

There’s a lot that can be done beyond the basics - especially if you have an idea what your aims are and interact regularly with followers and followed; I’ll come back to that another time.
